On Thursday the 11th January, The Rose and Crown Brampton (104 Old Road, Chesterfield
S40 2QT) picked up the prestigious Chesterfield & District CAMRA Pub of the year 2024 award.The presentation was made by Chesterfield CAMRA Chair Steve Monaghan, with many members in attendance. There was even free Pie and Peas to enjoy with the amazing selection of cask beer on offer.
Situated at the top end of the Brampton Mile, The Rose and Crown was the first pub acquired by Brampton Brewery in 2009. Run by Mat and his team, The Rose and Crown is committed to providing a friendly and progressive take on a time-honoured British pub experience. Serving hand pulled real ales from Brampton Brewery and across the country, The Rose And Crown are passionate about real ale. The pub also holds regular live music and real ale festivals.
The committee would like to thank everyone who nominated and made the effort to judge. A positive note was more pubs were nominated in 2023 than in previous years.
It must be said, that choosing a Pub of the Year (PotY) is an almost impossible job with the standards higher than ever. There is large number of fantastic pubs in Chesterfield and District that would be worthy winners. The judging guidelines take many factors into consideration including the QUALITY & CONDITION OF BEER, COMMUNITY FOCUS & ATMOSPHERE and SERVICE, WELCOME AND OFFERING. The assessment is done using the current CAMRA PotY judging forms, criteria and score weighting against the same National guidelines. I’m sure you will all raise a glass and congratulate this year’s winner the Rose and Crown.

As an additional bonus the Rose and Crown also picked up the award for Chesterfield & District CAMRA Cider Pub of the Year 2023 too.
